II. The Handle Is a Load Path, Not a Decoration.
Most buyers spec a cheering stick by the head — the printed balloon at the top. That is not where the failure happens. The failure happens at the handle and the head-to-pole joint. When a fan holds the stick overhead and bangs it against a rail or a neighbor's stick, the entire impact load travels down the pole into the handle grip. If the handle is a single-wall plastic tube with a molded grip, the joint between the grip and the tube cracks under repeated impact.
